A lumen is a measure of brightness. More lumens means a brighter image. This is important because you can view the image without needing to turn out the lights in the office or boardroom.
You may see references to "ANSI lumens". Figures stated in ANSI lumens are derived using an industry standard procedure for testing projectors.
