Some laptop or notebook computers require you to press one or more keys to tell the computer that you want to output to an external monitor or projector. There is often a key marked [Function] or [Fn] that is pressed in conjunction with another key to do this. The key combination can vary between different manufacturers or models, so refer to your computer's documentation for more details.
Also, check the resolution of the computer. If it is set outside the range of the projector, you can not display on both. The computer may be set for widescreen format, like 1280x768.
