There are two methods of connecting a Casio keyboard or digital piano to a computer: using standard MIDI In/Out ports, or using USB. Most of our current keyboards use one method or the other, although a few models have both. These connections are described below:

1. STANDARD MIDI PORTS

Keyboards that have standard MIDI In/Out ports can be used with Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8 64-bit, or most other operating systems, as long as your computer is equipped with a MIDI interface that is compatible with your operating system, and you have the appropriate cables to connect the keyboard to the MIDI interface. When using this type of connection, there is no driver needed for the keyboard, although it is possible that the MIDI interface might require a driver (check the documentation for the MIDI interface, or contact the manufacturer of the MIDI interface). Please see the following page on our Web site for more information on how you can accomplish this type of connection:

2. USB PORT

If you are using Windows Vista 64-bit, then none of our keyboards support USB connection. Please see the following page on our Web site for more information:

If you are using Windows 7 64-bit or Windows 8 64-bit, then begin by going to one of the following links:

Windows 7: http://support.casio.com/information.php?rgn=1&cid=008&pid=934

Windows 8: http://support.casio.com/information.php?rgn=1&cid=008&pid=1246

Scroll down to "Driver Operation Confirmation Status". The keyboards that use "USB-MIDI driver" (see the applicable models in the list with *1) require the download of the driver "CCUSBX64_INST.zip" from the following link:

http://support.casio.com/download.php?cid=008&pid=340&rgn=1

There are also a few other models which are not listed here that use this type of driver, such as CTK-710 and CTK-720.

Musical instruments that are USB Class Compliant (listed as "USB Standard driver") work with Windows 7 or Windows 8 without the need to download a driver.

A very simple way to determine USB compatibility is to refer to the attached document. Models that are listed as "USB Class Compliant (no driver needed) are compatible with Windows 7 64-bit or Windows 8 64-bit without any additional driver. On the other hand, models that are listed as "USB (driver required)" would necessitate the download of the driver "CCUSBX64_INST.zip". Don't forget that a few of these models might also have standard MIDI In/Out ports, which could be connected through the use of a separate MIDI interface as described above.
