Why are Group reports showing incorrect totals (too large)?

If you link a PLU to a department as well as a group, and also link that department to the same group, then this causes the PLU to be counted twice in the group totals. It will be counted once from the PLU link to the group, and again from the department link to the group.

 

To work around this problem, eliminate the redundancy of both the PLU and department being linked to the same group. The simplest way to do this is to program the department so that the it is linked to group 0 (meaning it has no group link), while keeping the PLU linked to both the department and the group.
